Alain Delon, French film star, dies aged 88

PARIS.- Alain Delona French cinema star with a career spanning five decades, died at the age of 88 after an arduous health battle.

His children announced his death this Sunday through a statement in the French national news agency, Agence France-Presse (AFP).

According to the statement, The actor died “perenely” in his Douchy residence.

French media have confirmed the death of actor and producer Alain Delon after a long battle for his health.

Delon leaves behind a cinematic legacy of 122 films: 88 as an actor, two as a director and 32 as a producer.

At the height of their careers in the 1960s and 1970s, some of the world’s most prominent conductors, from Luchino Visconti until Joseph Loseythey asked to work with Delon.

He also appeared in plays and television films in the last decade.

Before his death, Delon expressed disillusionment with the film industry, saying that money “had killed the dream.”

“Money, commerce and television have destroyed the dream machine,” he wrote in a 2003 issue of the weekly The New Observer. “My cinema is dead. And so am I.”
