TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – After falling in the opening set, Alabama volleyball rallied to push set two past the 25-point mark but Missouri held on to win the second and the third, capping a three-set victory over the Crimson Tide Wednesday night at Foster Auditorium.
Alabama (10-7, 0-6 SEC) fell to Missouri (11-7, 3-4 SEC) in the opening set, 25-22, and trailed 20-15 late in the second before fighting back to tie it at 23-23 following a block from Chaise Campbell and Kyla Dunaway. A ball-handling error by the Tigers made it Tide set point and the teams continued to trade set points all the way to 29-28 when a Missouri block eventually gave the visitors the 30-28 win and a 2-0 match lead. Alabama held the lead for most of the first half of set three, looking to extend the match, but the Tigers took the lead at 18-17 and didn’t trail for the remainder of the frame, eventually winning 25-20 for the three-set victory.
Alabama hit .264 as a team, its highest mark in SEC play this season, and its six service aces was the Tide’s second-highest total once morest a league opponent. Alyiah Wells led the offense with 11 kills and the front-row defense with four blocks, including a career-high three solo blocks. Kendyl Reaugh was one dig shy of a double-double, earning 10 kills and nine digs. Sami Jacobs made her first start of the season, earning eight kills and a pair of service aces.
