Al-Marsad newspaper: Khaled Al-Zaqaq, a meteorologist, revealed the reason for the Arabs’ pessimism regarding the month of Shawwal, saying that it is the tenth month of the Hijri year, and it is a lunar year that depends on the sighting of the crescent.
And “Al-Zaqaq” added in a video clip: “It was called Shawwal because it contains a camel’s milk ‘shawl’, that is, it ‘lose’ or wobble with its tail, so the stallion does not approach it. That is why the Arabs were pessimistic regarding marriage in this regard.”
He continued: “With the advent of Islam, this invalidated them, and the Prophet married Aisha in the month of Shawwal, which is the month that contains the best days of the year, which is the blessed Eid al-Fitr. It contains the six days. Whoever fasts Ramadan and then follows it with the 6th of Shawwal, it is as if he had fasted the whole eternity.”
He continued, “During the month of Shawwal, the temperatures rise, the days become longer, and following 51 days, we will live the longest days and shortest nights of the year.”
