The press office of the Iraqi Prime Minister reported yesterday, Tuesday, that Iraqi Prime Minister Muhammad al-Sudani discussed with Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak the strengthening of relations in the energy sector and the development of technologies based on artificial intelligence and digital cooperation.
On Tuesday, Al-Sudani received Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and his accompanying delegation, which included Energy Minister Sergei Tsevilev, the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation to the Middle East and African countries, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, and First Deputy Energy Minister Pavel Sorokin.
The press office also indicated that “during the meeting, bilateral relations and ways to develop and strengthen them in all fields were discussed, especially in the field of energy, technologies based on artificial intelligence and digital cooperation,” pointing to “the importance of these historical meetings in the context of the eightieth anniversary of the establishment of Iraqi-Russian relations.” .
The statement quoted Al-Sudani as confirming “Iraq’s desire to establish a mechanism through which the relationship with the Russian Federation will be developed, in a way that brings mutual benefit and achieves common interests.”
For his part, Novak conveyed to Sudanese the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin, stressing Russia’s commitment to cooperation with Iraq in light of the outcomes of the Iraqi Prime Minister’s visit to Moscow in October last year, and the understandings within the framework of the interests of the two friendly peoples.
