Al-Sisi and King Abdullah confirm their rejection of any military action in Rafah

Amman – Jordanian King Abdul II and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi warned of the dangerous consequences of any Israeli military operation in Rafah.

During a summit they held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, the two leaders affirmed their rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, and attempts to separate them.

The Jordanian king, his wife, Queen Rania, and their son, Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, received the Egyptian president and his wife on Monday at Marka Airport in Amman.

During their meeting at Basman Palace today, King Abdullah II and the Egyptian President stressed the necessity of reaching a humanitarian truce and a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza as soon as possible.

The two leaders stressed the importance of continuing to push for the opening of land crossings and removing all obstacles to the arrival of humanitarian aid to all parts of Gaza urgently and at the required level, and indicated that the catastrophic humanitarian conditions witnessed by the Strip require immediate action by the international community to limit its aggravation.

It was also emphasized to maintain close coordination between the two countries regarding various developments, as the King expressed his appreciation for the continuing efforts made by Egypt to reach a humanitarian truce in Gaza.

The two sides warned of the danger of the continuation of the war in Gaza, the acts of violence committed by extremist settlers once morest Palestinians in the West Bank, and the subsequent violations of Islamic and Christian sanctities in Jerusalem.

The Jordanian King and the Egyptian President reaffirmed their rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza, and to attempt to separate them, warning of the dangerous consequences of any military operation in Rafah.

The two leaders stressed the need to find a political horizon for the Palestinian issue in order to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The two leaders reaffirmed that Jordan and Egypt stand alongside the brotherly Palestinian people in obtaining their full legitimate rights, and their support for any steps that would meet their aspirations.

The Jordanian Prime Minister, Bisher Al-Khasawneh, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Ayman Al-Safadi, the Director of the Office of the Jordanian King, Jaafar Hassan, the Director of General Intelligence, Major General Ahmed Hosni, the Jordanian Ambassador to Cairo, Amjad Al-Adaileh, and a number of officials participated in receiving the Egyptian President.

The delegation accompanying the Egyptian President includes Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Head of the General Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of the President’s Office, Major General Ahmed Ali, and the Egyptian Ambassador to the Kingdom, Mohamed Marzouk.
