The Saudi youth team qualified for the group stage of the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs, following its 1/3 victory over its Syrian guest, Tishreen, on Thursday evening, in the second leg of the preliminary round of the competition.
Al-Shabab benefited from its 1/1 draw with its Syrian counterpart in the first-leg match, which was held last Sunday at Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium, which hosted today’s meeting, to win the qualification for the group stage by winning 4/2 in the aggregate of the home and return matches.
Ahmed Abdo Jaber opened the scoring for Al-Shabab in the 16th minute, before Carlos Carvalho added the second goal for the Saudi team in the 36th minute from a penalty kick, so the first half ended with the hosts advancing with a clean double.
In the second half, Ahmed Abdo Jaber scored once more, scoring the third goal for Al-Shabab and his second personal goal in the 75th minute, while Ahmed Hatem ensured the goal of honor for Tishreen in the third minute of calculated time instead of lost.
The youth team is scheduled to play in Group C of the Arab Club Championship, alongside Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia and Zamalek.
