She is the beauty of the screen, Maryam Fakhr El-Din, one of the most prominent beauties of Egyptian cinema. She possessed innocent features that gave her other definitions, such as “the gentle pigeon” and “the pure angel of cinema.” She entered the world of art and acting at a time when he appreciated the value of refined beauty.

Her angelic features qualified her to cross into the hearts of everyone who watched her through the roles of the innocent, oppressed and overpowered romantic girl, and she proved herself in her with merit, until she decided to go out from her to various other roles, so she played the role of the traitor, the playful girl, the girl of the night and others.

Maryam Muhammad Fakhr El-Din was born on January 8, 1933, to an Egyptian father who works as an irrigation engineer, and a Hungarian mother named Paula, whom he met during one of his foreign travels, so she described herself as “Al-Khawajaya Farming.” Maryam had a long period of her bi-religious life, where she grew up with her father who was a strict and conservative Muslim, and her mother a devout Christian, but they lived together with each adherent of their religion.

After the age of twelve, her father imposed on her not to go out and only go to school, and in one of the press statements, Maryam said: “It was forbidden until I answered the phone, once I answered because there was no one at home, Baba who called, came up with the whole phone.”

Hasna Al-Shasha added that her mother was strict, as she likened her to the “Minister of the Interior”, saying: “I did not take money like the rest of my schoolmates, and when I asked for it, she told me to do something to get her money, so I kept ironing the house and taking money,” and she also learned. Self-reliance from a young age, as she often did the housework herself, despite the presence of someone to help her.

She studied at the German school until she obtained a certificate equivalent to the baccalaureate, and she spoke 5 languages: Arabic, English, German, French, and Hungarian.

She entered the field of art by chance, at the age of seventeen, following she went to take a photograph on her birthday, and the photographer offered her to participate in a competition organized by the French magazine “Image”, and she won the award for the most beautiful face, so the photographer Abdo Nasr and director Ahmed Badrakhan contracted with her to Participation in her first movie “Laylat Gharam”.

Her father rejected the idea of spending her from her own money, throughout her stay in the family home, following working in the artistic field and receiving high wages, saying: “As long as I was in my father’s house, I was sweeping and ironing and taking money to live with at home. As for my second money in the bank until I get married.”

She married director Mahmoud Zulfiqar, who was 18 years old, and he was 23 years older than her. He used to treat her severely and deliberately insult and beat her, take her wages and give her a small part of it, so she resorted to hiding half of what she was getting in her socks.

One day and at the time of his travels, she found the amount amounted to 17 thousand pounds, so she rented an apartment and furnished it and asked him for a divorce, following a marriage that lasted 8 years, and the fruit of it was her daughter Iman, and she was linked to Shadia until her death, unlike her relationship with Faten Hamama, which was tense, as she saw that she was not “The Lady of the Arab Screen”, saying: “We are not all women.”

After 3 months of her divorce, she married Dr. Muhammad Al-Taweel, and she retired from art for a while in implementation of his desire, and gave birth to her son Ahmed, but they divorced because of her mistreatment once more following 4 years of marriage, the third marriage in Maryam’s life, she was from the Syrian singer Fahd Ballan, where She moved to life with him in Lebanon, and shared with him several works of art.

Her husbands treated her the most well, but she divorced once more because her children did not accept the idea of marriage. Her last marriage was to businessman Sherif Al-Fadali, who is 10 years younger than her, but as usual, the end was a divorce, and despite 4 marriages, Maryam Fakhreddine did not wear the white wedding dress nor Once.

Maryam Fakhr El-Din participated in more than 200 films, which is a record, and she had bold statements that angered many of her, as she attacked Faten Hamama, Adel Imam, Youssef Chahine and others,

Mary was not religious because of her dispersion between the religion of her father and mother, but her proximity to Shadia made her search for a method of prayer and ablution, and she began to learn Surat Al-Fatihah and Short Pictures at an old age.

The artist, Maryam Fakhr El-Din, said that due to the duality of religion, she lived all her life not knowing the method of prayer, and she did not arrive one day until a day came and she had a strong desire to establish the imposition of prayer, which made her seek help from the artist Shadia, until she taught her, so she sent her the book “The Little Muslim” and she did not understand. nothing of it.

So I was surprised by the late Sheikh Muhammad Metwally Al Shaarawy calling her to help her. When she told him that she might not memorize the “Tashahhud,” he permitted her to recite Al-Fatihah and then give the salutation, and he also permitted her to take a bath before every obligatory prayer because she did not realize the idea of ablution.

Until she was able to learn ablution and memorize the tashahhud following one of her friends told her the story of the Isra and Mi’raj, and Maryam Fakhreddine died on November 3, 2014, at the age of 81.
