Al-Rahi: The elections will restore Lebanon’s position.. and Abu Faour: The authority wants to cancel it. Today, Monday, February 14, 2022 01:19 AM

Maronite Patriarch Bechara Al-Rahi stressed that “the elections are an inevitable passage to restore Lebanon’s position and respect among countries, and it is not allowed to be postponed.”

In a speech yesterday, Al-Rahi added: “How much our country needs loyal officials and reforms that will save us,” calling on voters in the upcoming parliamentary elections to “create a new reality in the country.”

Al-Rahi pointed out that “the current challenges require us to rally around state institutions, foremost of which is the army, especially in the next stage, which calls for security control.”

In his speech, Al-Rahi said, we hope that the focus of the electoral projects will revolve around: addressing social and economic issues, Lebanon’s neutrality, holding an international conference, expanded decentralization, limiting weapons to the army, and implementing international resolutions.

He added: These elements, without a doubt, constitute the road map to save Lebanon, revive its state, restore dignity to the people, protect Lebanese unity, and preserve Lebanon’s relations with itself and with Arab and international countries.

He stressed that it was the neglect of these basic matters for years that led to what we are today, this dangerous situation that necessitates taking bold and advanced positions. It is not through daily bargains and settlements that peoples preserve their future in their homelands and among nations. One of the signs of hope is that public positions have begun to emerge indicating the interest of brotherly and friendly countries in finding a solution to the Lebanese crisis within the framework of the Lebanese and international legitimacy. May the Lebanese state respond seriously to the constructive proposals, so as not to circumvent them in order to pass time and waste opportunities.

For his part, a member of the Democratic Gathering, MP Wael Abu Faour, said that “the covenant and those who take refuge in it and those who support it will not hesitate to cancel or postpone the parliamentary elections and commit this heinous act if they are able to do so, despite all the hypocrisy that is practiced in the media, and we will address that.”

Abu Faour called for a parliamentary petition to defend its conduct, because they know that popular and political balances will overthrow a large part of the representation of the Covenant and its current and some other parties, who see this political team as a cover for them and all their policies and practices, and they will be exposed at the general political level in the event of the weakness of the national trend It’s free, because the country, since 2006, has been governed by the “Mar Mikhael” understanding formula. Abu Faour added that there is a group that takes strategic gains from Lebanon to Yemen, passing through Iraq and Syria, in reference to Hezbollah, and a group that achieves its interests and benefits at home at the expense of the state, meaning the Free Patriotic Movement. A party takes a deed of innocence for everything it has done and is doing in Syria, Iraq, and Yemen and in all the arenas it reaches in exchange for another party. In return for covering these policies, it takes administration, electricity, powers, services, appointments, the judiciary, and in all state departments.

Faour said during a meeting at the Kamal Jumblatt Center for Social and Cultural in Rashaya, that “the next maturity is crucial at the level of the country’s political balance.”
