Riyadh – (AFP):
The Saudi Al-Nasr Football Club announced, on Monday, its contract with Colombian international goalkeeper David Ospina until 2024, in a free transfer deal following the expiration of his contract with Italian Napoli.
Al-Nasr said on his Twitter account: “The Chairman of Al-Nasr Club, Mr. Musli Al Muammar, signed a contract with the goalkeeper of the Colombian national team and its captain, David Ospina, in a free transfer deal, and with a contract that extends for two years, wishing him success.”
The 33-year-old goalkeeper spent four seasons with Napoli, the first of which was on loan from Arsenal before signing for the southern club, with whom he played a total of 103 games in all competitions, including 81 in the Italian League.
Although he defended Arsenal’s colors for four seasons between 2014 and 2018, Ospina contented himself with playing 70 matches with the London team, including only 29 in the Premier League, following he defended Nice in 199 games between 2008 and 2014.
Ospina began his career in 2006 locally with Atlético Nacional, which he stayed with until 2008 before starting his journey in the European continent.
Ospina leads the list of players with the most participation with the Colombian national team following playing 124 matches, ahead of the famous striker Carlos Valderrama (111 between 1985 and 1998) and the current Juventus player, Juan Cuadrado (111).
