The Portuguese Luis Castro, coach of Al-Nasr, revealed that his team is going through a difficult stage due to the succession of matches, explaining following facing Zamalek: “We suffer from a lack of exercises. We play matches, then recover, then play.”

Al-Nasr coach said in his speech following the end of the confrontation: “We are going through a difficult stage, but I am confident that the team will pass successfully. We were not good in front of Zamalek. We had problems with positioning. We need time and regular training because this helps us improve some of the negatives.”

Al-Nasr succeeded in snatching the qualification card to the quarter-finals of the King Salman Cup for Arab Clubs, following a draw with Egyptian Zamalek with the goal of Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, to qualify second from his group and meet Moroccan Raja Athletic in the next round.

The coach of the Al-Asimi team indicated in his speech: “The teams that added a number of contracts need more training. The preparation stage consists of training and friendly matches. We played matches and did not train much, with time we will improve.”

Regarding his expectations regarding the title, Castro said: “We do not rule out that the champion will be a surprise, perhaps not from the nominated teams.”

And regarding his substitution for midfielder Abdel-Rahman Gharib in the second half of the match, he said: “When Abdul-Rahman Gharib left, we were 1-0 behind and we needed to take solutions. We had one of three solutions, the exit of Cristiano, Talisca or Gharib. And I cannot replace a player in the middle, because by doing so we will lose balance.

Castro made it clear that facing Raja next Sunday will be difficult for both sides.

Regarding his removal of mid-defense Abdullah Madu, he answered: “Madou had a yellow card, and with the pressure of the match and the exhaustion of the players, it was a risk to keep him on the field and we might lose him with a red card. Mane arrived two days ago and we were keen to include him in order to help the team.”

Castro continued in his speech: “I expect a lot from the team. I do not promise results, but I promise work. I do not like selling illusions, but everyone must understand that success comes with work and time.”

Al-Nasr coach concluded his speech: “It is difficult to reach the start of the league with 11 fully prepared players. I work with humans, not machines. Humans cannot play every two days, but we will give our best in the cup and the rotation will continue to resist fatigue.”
