Al-Mustaqbal belongs to his partisans: Whoever wants to run for office…let him resign!

The Future Movement, in an organizational circular today, asked those who want to run for the upcoming parliamentary elections from their partisans to resign from the movement, and not to use its name and slogans in its electoral campaign.

The leadership of the movement, according to the text of the circular, asked each affiliate “in the event of non-compliance with the directives of the head of the movement, and the determination to participate in the parliamentary elections as candidates, to do the following:

Sending a resignation request from the Future Movement in writing to the body to which he belongs or to the Central Regulatory Affairs Authority.
Refrain from using the name of the movement or one of its slogans or symbols in the electoral campaigns.
Refrain from any claim to represent the movement or its project during any electoral activity.

The circular pointed out that the “Regulatory Affairs Authority” will announce the acceptance of the resignation request “through a statement issued by the Central Media Affairs Authority in the movement, with the hope that the requirements of this circular will be adhered to, at the risk of taking the necessary organizational measures to ensure the proper implementation of the leadership’s decisions.”

Prime Minister Saad Hariri met his deputies yesterday. The sources of those present told Al-Akhbar that he said to them: “After leaving Lebanon the last time, I heard a lot of talk regarding my reluctance to run for anyone. I did not say so. Rather, I asked you not to run on behalf of the movement or to hold activities in its name. Today, I renew this request, but I am not the one who decides your personal choices.”

He added: “Whoever wants to continue political and parliamentary work, the decision is his, and he assesses his conditions in his region and among his family and the people who vote for him, and he can do what he sees fit, but independently.”

He continued, “I did not summon you to prevent anyone from doing what he wanted. This meeting is to confirm that I am not forcing anyone to do anything, but I refuse that you take part in any entitlement in the name of the Future Movement or in the name of Saad Hariri.”
