Dubai (WAM)
National team swimmers Youssef Al Matrooshi and Salem Ghaleb will participate in the World Swimming Championships, which will be held in Budapest, Hungary, from June 18 to 23. Each swimmer is scheduled to participate in two races during the championship, where Al Matrooshi will compete in the 100-meter freestyle and 100-meter butterfly races, and Ghaleb will compete in the 200-meter freestyle and 200-meter butterfly races.
The team’s delegation is headed by Juma Al Balushi, Vice President of the Swimming Federation, who will join the delegation next Thursday.
Al-Matrooshi and most of the championship will be under the leadership of the citizen coach Marwan Hafez Al-Hattawi. Participation in the championship comes as part of the ongoing rehabilitation plan for swimmers, following the successes achieved by the UAE swimming during the past Arab and Gulf participations.
Ghaleb and Al Matrooshi organized a special camp before the tournament. The two swimmers participated in the general category in swimming competitions in the Gulf Games held recently in Kuwait, and won 4 medals, including gold and silver for Al Matrooshi, and silver and bronze for Ghaleb.
