Haitham Kamel Jaber, the father of the kidnapped student, told Al Arabiya.net that he was really shocked by the gang’s behavior, stressing that he feared for his son’s life.
He also continued that he might not secure this huge amount, especially since he did not trust the gang’s words regarding releasing his son following he paid the money.
The father also clarified that the person negotiating with him is of Arab nationality and speaks with a Levantine accent.
And regarding the last call he had with his son, he stated that it was on Friday before last, at exactly six thirty in the evening, and two hours later, his mother tried to call him once more, but he did not answer, and then the call was cut off.

It is noteworthy that the kidnapped young man, Moamen, traveled on March 17 to the State of South Africa, to join one of the aviation academies there.
When the academy was asked, the answer came that the young man went out with his friend and did not return.
After the disappearance of two days, the father received a phone call from an intermediary, informing him that his son had been kidnapped, and that the kidnappers were demanding a ransom from him.
He added that the mediator demanded that he not inform the police or the academy to prevent harm to his son, and threatened him if he did not carry out what was required of him, and then hung up the phone.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Nabila Makram, Minister of State for Immigration and Egyptians Abroad Affairs, intervened and responded to the request of the student’s family, Haitham Kamel, and his friend Fadi, following they were kidnapped in South Africa.
And she said through her account on Facebook, that the Egyptian embassy started its work in Pretoria by coordinating with the Ates Aviation Academy and the concerned authorities in the country to find out the details of the kidnapping and the fate of the Egyptian citizen.
