Choosing a toothbrush is a difficult and confusing task for many, especially with the different dental problems that humans suffer from.
It is known that neglecting this can lead to problems such as tooth decay, gum disease, and others.
However, the type of toothbrush you use can play a role in the overall health of your mouth.
A dentist told Express that the small round-headed brush is good for cleaning hard-to-reach areas.
“Different shapes will suit different individuals depending on their oral health needs and personal preferences,” said Dr. Alan Clark. “In general, a small, compact toothbrush head is best for cleaning around the gum line and around hard-to-reach areas at the back of the mouth.”
Round heads are usually found on electric toothbrushes.
“As dentists, we really like electric brushes because these round heads are designed to rotate which is amazing at removing plaque and food particles, and often more effective than using a manual toothbrush,” Clark added.
But Clark cautioned: “Sometimes a round head is nicer, but likewise it can be very harmful to sore or tender gums.”
He added: “If someone has an acute dental problem, we usually recommend that people resort to a soft, gentle manual brush to give the gums a chance to heal, free of irritation.”
For her part, Dr. Safaa Al-Nahar said: “The brush should be small enough to reach hard-to-reach places in the mouth.”
She added: The advantages of electric brushes are the movement that uses sound waves and can cover more teeth at one time.
