The Lebanese national youth team (under 20 years) lost 3-0 to its Iraqi counterpart, on the evening of Saturday, July 2, 2022, in the first friendly match between them, which was held at Al-Shaab International Stadium in Baghdad, as part of the preparations of the two teams for the eighth Arab Cup for teams organized by the Arab Federation. It will be hosted by the Saudi Federation in the city of Abha, from July 20 to August 6.
Iraq’s goals were scored by Kazem Raad (19), Ali Shakhwan (34) and Abdul Qadir Tariq (84).
The Lebanese youth team arrived at dawn on Saturday in Baghdad to set up a short training camp that will last for 5 days, and the two teams will meet in the second friendly match next Tuesday, July 5, at nine o’clock in the evening on the same stadium.
The President of the Lebanese Football Association, Mr. Hashem Haidar, made a call with the Minister of Youth and Sports, President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, in which he stressed the good relations and the continuous cooperation between the two federations. He also thanked him for the hospitality and reception of the team’s delegation.
Member of the Lebanese Football Association, head of the youth delegation, Asaad Sablini, and member of the Iraqi Football Association, supervisor of the youth team, Muhammad Nasser, exchanged souvenirs, shields of the two federations and the Iraqi team shirt. Nasser also welcomed the Lebanese delegation, conveying greetings of men and appreciating the historical relations that unite the two brotherly federations.
