Al-Manar Sports website » The tie hangs over the Rangers-Eindhoven match after an exciting match

Eindhoven returned with a 2-2 draw at Scottish host Rangers in the first leg of the first leg of the qualifying round for the group stage of the Champions League on Tuesday.

The return match will be held next Wednesday 8/24/2022 at Philips Stadium in the Netherlands.

For Rangers, Antonio Kulak scored 40, Tom Lawrence 70, while Eindhoven Ibrahim Sangari scored 37 and Armando Obispo 78.

The confrontation took on a special character because it brought together Ruud van Nistelrooy, appointed in March as coach of the Dutch team, with his former colleague in the national team Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who has been supervising the opponent team since November 2021.

The irony is that both players were in the opposition camp when the two teams met for the last time in the Champions League as Rangers, with Van Bronckhorst in midfield, won both on home and away during the group stage in 1999.

Van Nistelrooy scored the only goal for PSV Eindhoven in the 1-4 defeat at Ibrox.

Participation in the group stage carries a huge financial reward, as each team will guarantee 15.64 million euros, in addition to 2.8 million euros for each victory in the group stage and 930 thousand euros for each draw.

As for the teams that fail to qualify for the group stage of the Champions League, they move to the group stage of the second competition “European League”, where they will each receive 3.63 million euros.
