The European Football Association announced on Sunday the postponement of the match between Rangers of Scotland and Napoli, scheduled for next Tuesday, in the second round of the Champions League group stage until Wednesday, due to “security measures and measures for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II,” who died last Thursday.
With Napoli fans unable to travel to Scotland, Rangers fans will also be banned from attending the return leg at the Napoli stadium, according to UEFA, which called on fans not to travel and to respect this exceptional situation.
It is noteworthy that the English Premier League decided to postpone all football matches scheduled in England between 9 and 11 September, to mourn the departure of Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II.
The Premier League and the Second Division League announced earlier the postponement of the next round matches at the level of the two championships in England.
Earlier, Northern Ireland decided to postpone all football matches scheduled for this weekend and the beginning of next week as well.
