The former Algerian national team coach, Abdel Rahman Mahdaoui, died at the age of 73, following suffering from illness. Mahdaoui has previously trained many Algerian clubs, as well as the first Algerian national team and the Algerian military team, and won the World Military Football Championship with him.

Among the most prominent clubs led by Mahdawi are: Nasr Hussein Dey, Wydad Tlemcen, Al-Ansar Al-Saudi, Al-Taawun, MC Algiers, Ittihad El-Harrach, Al-Ahly Benghazi, Libya, MC Bejaia, Ghali Mascara, and finally Tajnanet Defense.
