The Secretary-General of the Lebanese Tennis Federation, Raymond Katura (a former prominent international player) was elected Vice-President of the Arab Tennis Federation during the General Assembly of the Arab Tennis Federation, which was held in Kuwait with the participation of representatives of 18 national federations.
In the details, Kuwaiti Sheikh Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was elected by acclamation as President of the Arab Union for a new term of 4 years. Kuwait’s candidate, Faleh Al-Otaibi, Secretary-General of the Arab Union, Tunisian Salma Al-Mawlhi as Vice President for Africa, and Egyptian Ayman Azmy as Vice President, while he won the Lebanese vote Raymond Katura (one of the best Arab tennis players who emerged in the last century) as Vice President for the Continent of Asia. Five candidates for the membership of the union won the vote. They are the Algerian Ishaq Ismail, the Jordanian Khaled Nafaa, the Palestinian Maha Jarad, the Sudanese Khaled Talaat and the Emirati Nasser Al-Marzouki.
After the results were announced, Kattura thanked everyone who gave him his confidence during the electoral general assembly, congratulating the president and members of the Board of Directors of the Arab Federation, and confirmed that he would strive with his colleagues to develop the game of tennis in the Arab countries.
The meeting of the General Assembly of the Arab Federation witnessed the attendance of heads and representatives of the national tennis federations from 18 Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, the Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Yemen and Palestine, in addition to the host country Kuwait.
As soon as he received the news, the President of the Lebanese Tennis Federation, Oliver Faisal, called a doctor and congratulated him on his new Arab position, in his name and on behalf of the Administrative Committee of the Lebanese Tennis Federation and on behalf of his family.
