Argentine defender Jose Luis Palomino has been temporarily suspended from the Italian football club Atalanta following it was discovered that he had taken a banned doping substance, the anti-doping authorities announced on Tuesday.
“The National Anti-Doping Court has provisionally suspended athlete Jose Luis Palomino… for violating Articles 2.1 and 2.2,” the 32-year-old’s suspension said.
The statement added that the sample taken from the player showed the presence of “clostipol”, an anabolic steroid.
Palomino has been defending the Atalanta colors since 2017, following passing in the French League with Metz (2014-2016) and the Bulgarian League with Ludogorets (2016-2017).
Palomino played 45 games last season with Atalanta, who finished eighth in the local league, and is linked with the representative of the city of Bergamo until June 2023.
