The Moroccan Football Association announced the appointment of national coach Walid Rekraki to coach the first Moroccan national football team, to succeed Bosnian Vahid Halilhodzic.
National coach “Rekraki” will lead the Moroccan national team in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, with a contract that extends until the 2026 World Cup.

Faouzi Lekjaa, president of the Moroccan Federation, said that Regragui will lead the national team in the World Cup in Qatar, which begins next November.
He added that the Regragui contract includes a clause that requires reaching the semi-finals of the 2024 African Nations Cup in Ivory Coast at a minimum.

He assured Lekja that he will provide all confidence, support and facilities to the new coach.

Regragui led Wydad to win the double of the local league and the African Champions League last season.

Morocco will participate in the World Cup for the second time in a row, and the sixth in its history, as the Atlas Lions have previously participated in: 1970, 1986, 1994, 1998 and 2018.

Morocco is scheduled to play in the World Cup in Group F, along with: Belgium, Canada, and Croatia.
