Chelsea announced on its official website the signing of Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona.
Chelsea managed to end the Aubameyang deal before the summer transfer market closed, but it was not announced until 2.20 am Mecca time, following long negotiations with Barcelona.
Chelsea stated that the experienced player’s contract would extend for two years.
Barcelona had to dispense with some of its players because of their high salaries and the deals concluded this summer.
Aubameyang played for half a season with Barcelona and performed well by scoring 11 goals in 17 league matches, but the arrival of the Polish Lewandowski precipitated the departure of the Gabonese star.
Barcelona stated that the value of the deal amounted to 12 million euros, thanking the player for his professionalism.
In the same context, Chelsea hope that Aubameyang (33 years) will end the team’s suffering with the issue of the failure of its attackers, especially following the failure of the experience of German Werner and Belgian Lukaku.
