Qatari champion Mutaz Barshim qualified for the high jump final of the World Athletics Championships – Oregon 2022.

Barshim, the Tokyo Olympics champion last summer, started the qualifiers by crossing the 2.17m barrier from the first attempt and asked not to jump at the 2.21m barrier and jumped 2.25m and 2.28m, respectively, from the first attempt as well.

“Praise be to God, we did what we had to do and achieved the desired goal, which is qualifying for the final round, especially since I did not participate much in international matches in the summer season,” Barshim said.

Barshim topped the qualifiers without error, jointly with the South Korean trio Sanghyuk Woo, Canadian Django Lovett and Ukrainian Andrey Protsenko, who were with him in Group A qualifiers.
