The English Premier League club, Southampton, announced that Sport Republic, the investment company backed by Serbian billionaire Dragan Solak, completed the acquisition of the club following it bought an 80 percent stake.
Solak, who owns a telecommunications company, bought the club in a deal estimated by the media to be around 100 million pounds ($136 million) from Chinese businessman Zhao Jisheng, who bought his 80 percent stake in August 2017.
It was the third high-profile deal involving a Premier League club in recent months, following Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky acquired 27 percent of West Ham United in November and a Saudi-led consortium bought Newcastle United in October.
Southampton is 14th in the league with 21 points from 19 games, and they visit Swansea City in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
