Al-Ittihad and Al-Nasr officially protest the Saudi League’s decision regarding Al-Hilal

Saudi Arabia – Al-Nasr and Al-Ittihad Club expressed their rejection of the Saudi Roshen League Association’s decision to postpone Al-Hilal’s match against Al-Ahly in the local competition.

The Saudi League Association previously announced the postponement of Al Hilal’s match against Al Ahly, against the backdrop of the postponement of the Asian leader’s match against Al Ain in the AFC Champions League due to bad weather conditions.

Al-Ittihad Club issued an official statement in which it said: “In reference to the Club Association’s decision to postpone the Al-Ahly and Al-Hilal match, which was scheduled to be held on Friday, April 19, to be held on Monday, May 6, as this decision contradicts the principle of fair competition and equal opportunities, This may result in determining the league standings and determining the clubs participating in the various competitions.”

Al-Ittihad Club continued: “It had previously asked the Competitions Department to postpone its league match outside its home with Damak Club before the Club World Cup.” Despite Damak’s approval, the request was rejected, under the pretext of not having enough time in the calendar, which forced the “Dean” to play 5 matches within all of two weeks. Outside Jeddah.

The statement concluded: “Therefore, the club urges the competitions administration of the Professional League to ensure fair competition between the participating clubs, and to adhere to the competition regulations regarding postponing and rescheduling matches within the controls previously approved within the regulations, while setting clear and transparent standards for all clubs and fans regarding the mechanism for postponing matches.”

Likewise, Al-Nasr Club did the same by publishing a statement through its account on the “X” platform in which it called on the Saudi Professional League to adhere to its previous positions throughout the season regarding requests to postpone matches, and in which it confirmed that Al-Nasr’s request to postpone their match against Al-Ettifaq Club on August 14 had previously been rejected. In Dammam, it was preceded by a match in the final of the King Salman Cup for Champions Clubs on August 12 in Taif, under the pretext of adopting the sports season calendar and television broadcast agreements with many international channels.

It is noteworthy that Al-Ittihad occupies fourth place in the Saudi League standings for the current season, with 47 points, collected from 27 matches played since the start of the current season of the Roshan League, and Al-Nasr comes in second place with 65 points, with Al-Hilal leading the way with 77 points.
