Doha: Saudi’s Al Hilal won the Lusail Cup. Al Hilal won the title by defeating Egyptian Premier League winners Zamalek FC in a penalty shootout. It was also an eighty-thousand-seater match at Lucille Stadium. With this, the Super Cup also holds the record for the most attended match in Qatar.
Both the teams tied at 1-1 and the game went to a shootout. In the penalty shootout, Hilal goalkeeper Abdullah Al Muaif brought the Saudis to victory.
The match was also a trial run to assess the preparations at Lusail, the important venue of the World Cup.
