Sharjah: “The Gulf”
Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition, organized by the Expo Center Sharjah, with the support of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and in cooperation with the Department of Agriculture and Livestock, witnesses, for the third day in a row, more than 6 dialogue sessions and scientific workshops presented by an elite group of experts and specialists in the agricultural field, reviewing the most prominent practices. Approved to achieve sustainability in the agricultural and livestock sector, and the latest wheat production and development processes, which receive great attention in the UAE in general and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular, as it is one of the strategic tributaries in the system of enhancing food security.
The exhibition witnessed a large turnout from farm owners and farmers, who came to see the exhibition’s presentation of the most prominent modern technologies and equipment in the field of agricultural development and livestock breeding, the most important innovative solutions in hydroponic and vertical agriculture, the latest irrigation and gardening techniques, and the finest types of innovative pesticides and organic fertilizers. In addition to benefiting from the services provided by the entities and institutions participating in the exhibition, which contribute to increasing production and achieving self-sufficiency.
- Comprehensive strategy
Saif Mohammed Al Midfa, CEO of Expo Center Sharjah, said: “The exhibition is in line with Sharjah’s comprehensive strategy in supporting the agricultural sector and achieving sustainable food security, which comes in accordance with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah; His Highness pays great attention to agriculture and supporting farmers and investors in this vital sector, noting the importance of the workshops and dialogue sessions included in the event, which provided farmers with the opportunity to learn regarding the latest research and information specialized in developing agricultural production.
Al-Midfa stressed that the exhibition seeks, through the leading companies and institutions participating in it, to provide innovative solutions that include offering the latest fertilizers and technologies that ensure distinguished, appropriate, sustainable, quality and high-efficiency agriculture, and enhances the exchange of expertise and experiences and provides comprehensive knowledge of the latest foundations of agricultural development that ensure successful contribution to achieving food security. By increasing the area of wheat cultivation, which is considered a strategic crop, in order to achieve the goals of the National Food Security Strategy 2051, and the expertise that agricultural expansion requires to keep pace with the challenges of the nature of the climate and adaptation to water scarcity.
While representatives of agricultural companies participating in the event confirmed that Al Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition constituted a distinguished platform for them to communicate with farmers and learn regarding the sector’s priorities through them, as they are concerned with the various requirements of agriculture and its practical practice, and the most capable of conveying the indicator of crop needs for different types of organic fertilizers and modern technologies. Engineer Mohammed Al-Shafi’i, Sales Director at Al-Mubarak Agricultural Chemicals Company, pointed out that among the topics that Al-Dhaid Agricultural Exhibition focuses on are agricultural improvement techniques, and that the company found, through its participation in the exhibition, an opportunity to introduce its products, most notably organic pesticides intended to increase productivity and improve quality. All agricultural crops, adding that the company is in the process of registering some new products specialized in weeds, in addition to its pesticides and fertilizers that help farmers protect crops from pests and diseases, and improve the quality of agriculture, up to the stage of harvesting the crop.
