Sheikh Yas bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the ship “Zalzal” owned by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and led by Al Nokhatha Mohammed Abdullah Mohammed Al Marzouqi, was crowned champion of the Marawah race for 43-foot sailboats, which was held today as part of the Al Dhafra Marine Festival in its fifteenth session.

The second place was occupied by the motor vehicle “Al Dhafra” owned by His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan and driven by Nokhatha Marwan Abdullah Mohammed Al Marzouqi, while third place went to the motor vehicle “Al Mushakha” owned by the owner and Nokhadha Ali Ismail Al Hammadi.

The Al Dhafra Marine Festival is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority and the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club. Its competitions and activities continue until February 25, on Al Mughira Beach in the Al Dhafra Region.

On a related level, Sheikh Yas bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan visited the site of the Al Dhafra Marine Festival, and viewed the shops of productive families in the popular market, the pavilions of the participating supporting and sponsoring entities, the Nokhatha House, the Children’s Village, stalls, mobile carts, and the heritage crafts and Arabic coffee corner.

The coronation ceremony was attended by His Excellency Major General Pilot Faris Khalaf Al Mazrouei, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority, His Excellency Nasser Mohammed Al Mansouri, Under-Secretary of the Court of the Ruler’s Representative in the Al Dhafra Region, His Excellency Salem Al Rumaithi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, and a number of officials, in addition to Al-Nawakhatha. And the sailors participating in the race.

It is noteworthy that the Al Dhafra Marine Festival includes 23 main competitions, including traditional and modern marine races, beach, sports and popular competitions, for which more than 350 valuable prizes were allocated, in addition to many entertainment and educational events that attract visitors from inside and outside the country to introduce the maritime heritage in Abu Dhabi.

The festival is keen to celebrate maritime heritage, preserve national identity, enhance the strategy for preserving Emirati heritage, and introduce all members of the local community and tourists to the customs and traditions associated with the sea.

The festival aims to support the social and cultural activities of the residents of the Al Dhafra region, highlighting its importance and historical status, and the unique and diverse tourism potential it possesses, in addition to supporting and caring for the sporting generation.
