Al-Burhan makes changes to the leadership of the Sudanese army

The head of the Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, issued yesterday a decision promoting officers and referring others to retirement.
According to these decisions, Lieutenant-General Essam El-Din Saeed Koko, Commander of the Air Force, and Lieutenant-General Yasser Bashir Muhammad Abdullah, Director of the General Administration of Needs, were dismissed and retired.
The Sudanese army spokesman indicated that the decision included the promotion of Major General Pilot Al-Taher Muhammad Al-Awad Al-Amin as commander of the Air Force, the promotion of the officers of the 40th batch at the Military College to the rank of major general, and the retirement of others with the rank of major general and below.
He explained that the decisions come in line with the procedures that the General Command periodically takes to maintain the hierarchy and career hierarchy of officers.
Last February, Al-Burhan issued decisions promoting officers and referring others to pension, without announcing their numbers.
On the other hand, the Sudanese army announced yesterday that it had sent heavy machinery to the White Nile State to block the canals and prevent the expansion of floods.
A statement by the Sovereignty Council said that Lieutenant-General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan announced the formation of a national committee to follow up on providing the necessary support to those affected by the torrential rains.
Al-Burhan directed the Army’s Corps of Engineers to move its equipment, and establish crossings that lead to the “Al-Manaqil” area in the state of Al-Jazirah to deliver foodstuffs to those affected by the floods.
The Sudanese government had earlier declared a state of emergency in 6 states due to torrential rains and torrential rains, and the Meteorological Authority warned that sudden torrential rains would hit most of the Sudanese states, calling for caution, especially in low-lying areas.
