Al-Azhar: The eclipse prayer is a confirmed Sunnah

Al-Azhar International Center for Electronic Fatwa said that the meaning of Lunar eclipse It is the disappearance of its light or some of it at night; To prevent the Earth’s shadow between the sun and the moon.

وصلاة الخسوف سنة مؤكدة ثابتة عن سيدنا رسول الله ﷺ، فعَنِ المُغِيرَةَ بْنَ شُعْبَة رَضِى اللهُ عنْهُ قال: انْكَسَفَتِ الشَّمْسُ يَوْمَ مَاتَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: انْكَسَفَتْ لِمَوْتِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ: «إِنَّ الشَّمْسَ وَالقَمَرَ آيَتَانِ مِنْ آيَاتِ اللَّهِ، لاَ يَنْكَسِفَانِ لِمَوْتِ anyone or for his life, so if you see them, then supplicate to God and pray until he clears up.”

Worshipers pray it individually or in groups, in homes or elsewhere.

If the people pray it in congregation, it is called to it with the saying of the herald: (Prayer is inclusive), and no call is given for it. Because the call to prayer is for the obligatory prayers, and you pray two rak’ahs, in each rak’ah there are two standing, two reading, two bowing and two prostrations..

And if you see that, then be afraid to pray.”

The eclipse prayer is performed at the time of the lunar eclipse until its end; Because it is linked to a reason, and if the reason is missed, its time is over.
