Qatari driver Nasser Al-Attiyah moved away from the top of the general standings of the Argentine “Divasio Rota 40” rally, which constitutes the fourth and penultimate round of the World Long Desert Rally Championship for the 2023 season organized by the International Automobile Federation, following winning the second stage title, on Wednesday.

Al-Attiyah, accompanied by his French navigator, Mathieu Baumel, aboard a Toyota Hilux, completed the third circular stage around the city of Belen, with a total distance of 463 km, of which 265 km are subject to speed, and 197 stages are connected, in a time of 2.54.53 hours.

The Qatari driver was 1.41 minutes ahead of the Saudi driver, Yazid Mohammed Al-Rajhi, accompanied by his German navigator, Timo Gottschalk, who finished second, with a time of 2.56.34 hours, and a difference of 10.11 minutes from Argentine Juan Cruz Yacobini, accompanied by his Spanish navigator Daniel Oliveras, who finished third, with a time of 3.05.04. hours.

Al-Attiyah benefited from his victory in the third stage, and consolidated his position at the top of the general standings, with a total time of 9.38.18 hours, a difference of 10.28 minutes from the Argentine Yacobini, who clung to his position in second place with a total time of 9.48.46 hours, while the Saudi driver Yazid Al-Rajhi came in third place with a time. A total of 9:56:30 hours, 18.12 minutes off the lead.

Al-Attiyah hopes to continue his victories in the fourth circular stage also in the city of Beilin, which has a total area of ​​579 km, of which 345 km are special stages subject to speed and 234 km are stages of connection, in order to consolidate his position in the lead, and win the title early before the scheduled fifth and final stage, Friday.

The rally was called the “Desafio Route 40” rally, following the famous “Route 40” which is located in Argentina, where the rally will pass through, and it is the longest road in South America and one of the longest roads in the world.

It is noteworthy that Al-Attiyah leads the general standings of the world championship before entering the fourth stage, with 136 points, ahead of Saudi Al-Rajhi, who ranked second with 106 points, while Frenchman Sebastien Loeb ranks third with 101 points, and Argentine driver Sebastien Halperin ranks fourth with 74 points.
