Under the slogan “The eye is wider for you than the house,” the activities of the Al Ain Book Festival 2023, organized by the Abu Dhabi Center for the Arabic Language, begin today until November 25 at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium (Al Ain Square) and other locations. In its 14th edition, the festival celebrates books, arts, and various aspects of creativity through a diverse schedule of experiences and activities, to promote the culture of reading and motivate members of society, especially young people, to communicate with the Emirati cultural heritage and learn regarding its rich works.

The event – whose activities are spread across seven main locations – gives book lovers the opportunity to purchase the most important publications in cultural fields, by hosting 150 exhibitors presenting more than 60,000 titles, and aims to attract more than 82,000 visitors to enjoy more than 400 events and programmes.

The head of the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center, Dr. Ali bin Tamim, said: “Al Ain Festival is an inspiring cultural platform to empower youth and celebrate pioneers of knowledge and arts, and it is one of the center’s most prominent tools for achieving the strategic goals aimed at enhancing the status of the Arabic language as a major cultural component, and contributing to achieving the cultural vision.” “For the wise leadership to build a generation that reads and is connected to the Arabic language and to the heritage and authentic values ​​of Emirati society.”

Bin Tamim explained that the festival seeks to enhance the public’s awareness and knowledge of the cultural and heritage status of the city of Al Ain, and the rich heritage it possesses of landmarks and edifices that witnessed the stages of development of the UAE and its renaissance process, through a creative cultural and artistic mix that reflects Al Ain’s capabilities and its ability to receive and organize major events. And festivals that keep pace with the aspirations of all categories of the public. He stressed that this year’s edition keeps pace with the UAE’s efforts to consolidate the values ​​of sustainability and work to achieve them in various aspects of life, which is reflected in every aspect of the festival.
