Al-Ahly regains top spot in the Egyptian League

Al-Ahly scored three goals in the first 13 minutes to beat its host Pharco 4-1 and regain the top spot in the Egyptian Premier League on Tuesday.

Al-Ahly raised its score to 25 points from nine matches, two points ahead of the former leader, Pyramids, while Farco has 15 points from 11 games in seventh place.

Mohamed Sharif opened Al-Ahly’s goals with a close-range shot following a pass from Ahmed Abdel-Qader, to turn around with his body and hit goalkeeper Mohamed Sobhi from close range five minutes following the start.

Two minutes later, Mohamed Magdy “Qafsha” added the second goal following receiving a long pass that broke the offside trap to launch a powerful shot into the ceiling of the goal.

Qafsha made the score 3-0 for Al-Ahly in the 13th minute following a pass from Sharif to hit the goal from close range, but Ahmed Al-Sagheri reduced the difference for the hosts when he followed the Nigerian Kingsley Sukari’s powerful shot that bounced from the hand of Al-Ahly goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Shennawi to put the ball into the net.

Substitute Hussein Al-Shahat scored Al-Ahly’s fourth goal three minutes before the end, with a shot that changed direction and hit Sobhi’s net. Referee Mohamed Maarouf canceled a goal for Sherif in the 40th minute for offside.
