Al-Ahly decorated its African history with a new record, following it became the first club in the continent to reach the 200-victory barrier in all African championships.
Al-Ahly achieved its 200th victory following overcoming Sudan’s Al-Merreikh with difficulty yesterday, Saturday, with a score of 3-2, in the meeting that was held at the “Al-Ahly we are peace” stadium, which was postponed from the first round of the group stage.
Al-Ahly played a total of 387 matches in all African competitions, winning 200 matches, drawing 102 and losing 85 in the meeting.
Al-Ahly players have scored 598 goals so far, only two goals separate them from reaching 600 goals, while the Red Genie has conceded 292 times.
Al-Ahly is the team that has won the most African Champions League title (10 times), the most participation in the tournament (33 participation), and the team that has scored the most goals in one copy (36 goals).
Mahmoud Al-Khatib, the current president of Al-Ahly, is still the top scorer in Egypt in the African Club Championships with 37 goals, and has been at the top of the list for more than a quarter of a century since his retirement from football in 1988.
