Akwá officially ended his football career this Wednesday, the 29th, at the age of 45, in the game between Nacional de Benguela and Desportivo da Lunda Sul, in the Angola Cup, in Benguela. The eternal number 10 of Palancas Negras and the best scorer in the history of the National Team hung up his boots today, putting an end, as a high competition player.
Despite having put an end to his career as a top-level player, Fabrice Maieco, “Akwá”, expressed his desire to one day manage the Angolan Football Federation (FAF), considering that the sport needs bigger and better organization.
Akwá’s desire was expressed to the press, following the defeat of Nacional de Benguela, by 0-3, once morest Clube Desportivo da Lunda Sul.
“As I always said, I want to make my contribution within the Angolan Football Federation. I’m not going to hide that, because it’s not news to anyone”, said the scorer of the goal that qualified the national team for the 2006 World Cup.
