Ukrainian students were exempt from paying fees this semester, but the war continues

Vienna (OTS) – Many Ukrainian students face enormous challenges that go far beyond the field of education. Education Minister Polaschek’s recent decision to exempt Ukrainian students from paying tuition fees in the 2023/24 winter semester was a step in the right direction. We welcome this measure and strongly demand that this support be continued in the coming semester.

Due to the ongoing Russian war of aggression once morest Ukraine, the Aktionsgemeinschaft is committed to continuing the tuition fee exemption for Ukrainian students in Austria.

The existing tuition fee exemption for all regular Ukrainian students at universities and colleges of education in Austria in the winter semester of 2023/24 relieves the financial burden on students and is an important step towards supporting and contributing to educational careers despite the ongoing crisis.

As an action community, we appeal to maintain the tuition fee exemption for Ukrainian students in the coming semester and to continue to ensure unbureaucratic solutions.

We firmly believe that consistent continuation of this support measure will send a clear signal of solidarity and commitment to support Ukrainian students during this difficult time.
