Ákos was supposed to go to a concert in Tusványos by plane, but his flight was cancelled

Ákos Kovács would have gone to Tusványos by plane, as he and his band gave a concert on July 25 at the Bálványosi Summer Free University and Student Camp event. But Wizz Air canceled its flight from Budapest to Marosvásárhely on Wednesday night, so the passengers, including the Ákoses, were stuck in the Hungarian capital, writes the Mandarin.

“We experienced the same hardships as any other passenger, we all had a bad time. You don’t expect much from a low-cost airline, but maybe that’s enough to get you to the desired location decently,” said the musician.

Ákos told Mandiner that they already knew that their flight from Budapest (which was originally supposed to take off at 7:45 p.m.) would be delayed by two hours when they left for the airport. Later, the two hours became three, and at 11 o’clock they were told that the plane would not take off.

“In international aviation there is chaos in many places, every traveler can experience this. Just as everyone else had things to do, we also have work to do, and we happen to have an important performance in Tusványos tonight. Because of what happened, minibuses and cars had to be arranged for the entire crew at night. It will be a miracle if we arrive at the start of the originally announced concert,” said Ákos. The singer added that previously they always went to Tusványos by bus, where the journey takes 14-15 hours. They wanted to avoid this, but they didn’t expect it to happen.

“It’s simply not true that they didn’t know this beforehand. It’s all like the Pest jokes about Albania in the eighties. The majority handled the situation calmly, but there were some who shouted, a lady was crying next to us, she was so desperate. We held a crisis team there, we discussed what we had to do to be able to hold tonight’s concert. Most of the equipment was already on the way, the stage performers drove off in a larger car, half the band slept at my place for a few hours, and then we started at dawn,” explained the singer.
