Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch confirmed that His Majesty King Mohammed VI places the Palestinian issue among the constants of the foreign policy of the Kingdom of Morocco, noting that His Majesty allocated an important space to the Palestinian issue, in his lofty speech on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the glorious Throne Day, in which he, may God protect him, reaffirmed To continue “supporting constructive initiatives that aim to find practical solutions, achieve a tangible and lasting ceasefire, and address the humanitarian situation.”

Akhannouch, who represents His Majesty the King at this summit, explained that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, considered that “the worsening situation in the region requires moving away from the logic of managing the crisis to the logic of working to find a final solution to this conflict.”

The Prime Minister added, in a speech during the summit, that His Majesty the King considered that if reaching an end to the war in Gaza was an urgent priority, then it must be done in parallel with opening a political horizon that would be sufficient to establish a just and lasting peace in the region, adding that adopting negotiations to revive the peace process, between The Palestinian and Israeli parties require blocking the way for extremists from any direction.

The Prime Minister stressed that His Majesty the King believes that “establishing security and stability in the region will not be completed except within the framework of a two-state solution, in which Gaza is an integral part of the territory of the independent Palestinian state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.”

He said that His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God grant him victory, and based on his political and humanitarian duty, in his capacity as Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, “gave his bright instructions to the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Al-Sharif Agency, the executive arm of the Al-Quds Committee, to send urgent humanitarian and medical aid to our Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.” And the Holy City of Jerusalem, which was achieved with God’s help and success through the delivery of this aid via an unprecedented land route.”

Akhannouch added that, in parallel with humanitarian support, the Kingdom of Morocco, based on its adherence to peace as a strategic option, is keen to emphasize, in various international forums, that true peace in the Middle East region must guarantee the Palestinians their legitimate rights under the two-state solution.

The Kingdom of Morocco also condemns, says Mr. Akhannouch, the decision to terminate the work of UNRWA, and considers this a direct threat to the existence of the Palestinian people.

He pointed out that Israel’s expansion of the circle of military escalation into Lebanese territory is clear evidence that the entire region is heading towards a stage whose features and outcomes are difficult to predict, “which leads us to ask about the real goals behind this escalation and who benefits from this tragic situation, especially since the efforts are not It continues on more than one level to defuse the war that has been ongoing in the Gaza Strip for more than a year.”

In this regard, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco joins its voice with the rest of the Arab and Islamic countries to express its solidarity with Lebanon in order to preserve its sovereignty over its entire territory, and to support its constitutional institutions in exercising their authority in a way that strengthens national unity and preserves the security and stability of the country.

In addition to the Prime Minister, who was accompanied at this summit by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Moroccan delegation included, in particular, Messrs. Mohamed Ait and Ali, the Moroccan ambassador to Egypt and his permanent representative to the League of Arab States, and Mustafa Al-Mansouri, the Moroccan ambassador to the Kingdom. Saudi Arabia, his permanent representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and a number of diplomatic cadres at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans residing abroad. This summit comes, according to an official Saudi source, as an extension of the joint Arab-Islamic summit that was held in Riyadh on November 11, 2023, as the leaders of the Arab and Islamic countries sensed the importance of unifying efforts and coming up with a unified collective position that expresses the common Arab-Islamic will regarding what they witnessed. Gaza and the Palestinian territories are facing dangerous and unprecedented developments that require Arab and Islamic unity to confront them and contain their repercussions.
