Vienna (OTS) The key interest rate hikes by the ECB have now also reached savers, albeit with some delay and not to the same extent: “But something is happening in the interest rate landscape,” notes Gabriele Zgubic, head of consumer policy at AK Vienna. She also points out that the AK bank calculator has been in existence since 2004 and is defined in the Consumer Payments Account Act (VZKG) as the only Austrian comparison website for current accounts and also offers a comparison of savings products: “Why the banks are now changing their conditions to a first to be developed platform of the Oesterreichische Nationalbank is not understandable, because that is exactly what the AK bank calculator already offers.”

The trend in the bank calculator for savings interest is currently upwards. AK Wien has collected the interest rates of 27 banks (online banks and banks with branches in Vienna). The queries took place on September 4th and 5th. There is a wide range of interest rates.

Specifically, the following conditions currently apply:

+ Savings book (due daily): 0.001 to 2.00% pa (median: 0.40% pa)

+ Online savings (due daily): 0.01 to 3.19% pa (new customer campaign) (median: 2.00% pa)

+ Capital savings book/fixed deposit 12 months: 1.10 to 3.30% pa (median: 2.70% pa)

+ Capital savings book/fixed deposit 36 months: 0.125 to 3.65% pa (median: 2.75% pa)

+ Capital savings book/fixed deposit 60 months: 2.00 to 3.40% pa (median: 2.675% pa)

Saving is therefore becoming a little more attractive once more, but customers should compare the offers and check them carefully. Zgubic: “The range of interest rates is very wide. But you have to be careful, because some more attractive interest rates only apply to new customers or only for a certain period of time.”

Comparing is always important, and even more so when it comes to interest rates. “With the AK bank calculator, you can compare not only savings products, but also current accounts, personal loans and home savings offers,” emphasizes Zgubic. The consumer protection expert also refers to the design of the bank calculator: “It is independent, neutral, free of , has clear comparison criteria and presents the search results transparently.” should report to the Oesterreichische Nationalbank, the head of department cannot understand: “There is already an established and well-established calculator, namely the AK bank calculator.”
