Ajaz Patel wins ICC Cricketer of the Year award in December

New Zealand’s Ajaz Patel has been named the International Cricket Council’s ICC Cricketer of the Year for December. Ajax won the award for taking 10 wickets in an innings in a Test match once morest India.

This is the first time Ajaz has won the Best Actor award. Ajax put on a stellar performance in the Test match at Wankhede. Ajax is only the third player in the history of Test cricket to take 10 wickets in an innings.

Anil Kumble of India and Jim Laker of England have previously achieved this feat. Ajax, a left-arm spinner, took 14 wickets in December at an average of 16.07.

Ajaz surpassed Australia’s Mitchell Starc and India’s Mayank Agarwal. Ajaz is also the second New Zealander to achieve this feat. The awards will be presented in January 2021.
