A man, resident of Toronto (in Canada), his vehicle was stolen and, as in other cases we have already covered, he used the AirTag to try to locate it — except this time, it didn’t help the owner recover it, but rather tracked it back to… Dubai (yes, in the United Arab Emirates)!
Second information from CBCthe Canadian decided to put an AirTag in his vehicle following having his first car stolen, in May 2023. Months later, thieves attacked once more, stealing his SUV (a GMC Yukon XL) shortly following the victim returned from vacation.
The owner gave the AirTag information to police and watched the automobile travel through Toronto, where police tracked it to a rail yard. However, they claimed they did not have the authority to open the container where the vehicle was believed to be and recommended a private security service, which did nothing.
The SUV then went by train to the port of Montreal, where he was placed on a ship. From then on, the AirTag stopped reporting the vehicle’s location, probably due to lack of proximity to an iPhone or other Apple device connected to the internet.
Almost a month later, in early September, AirTag updated its location at a port in the city of Antwerp (in Belgium). Subsequently, the vehicle stopped for a long period, more than 11 thousand kilometers away, in Dubai. It was there that a private investigator found the stolen car for sale at a used store — and where the vehicle remains to this day.
