On the day of Lorraine Pedersen on a business trip turned into a real soap opera following her flight, from Toronto to Winnipeg (in Canada), left her without her luggage. Arriving at their destination, their clothes and essential items were missing.
The turnaround came thanks to AirTag put it in the suitcase. Contrary to information from the airline (WestJet), the device indicated an unlikely destination: Kingston, Jamaica. To the passenger’s surprise, there were no flights between the cities that day.
Determined to find her belongings, Pedersen began investigating on her own and discovered that her suitcase, by mistake, ended up on another company’s flight. Despite efforts, the luggage was trapped on the Caribbean island for two weeks.
The unfolding of this saga was not only marked by a turbulent journey, but also by the airline’s reluctance to accept responsibility. According to the CityNewsPedersen faced a wall of denials from the company, which refused to cover the costs of the loss or fully acknowledge what had happened.
In the end, when the suitcase returned to Toronto, Pedersen’s relief was quickly erased by the discovery of signs of tampering and missing items. According to the woman’s calculations, the losses are close to 4 thousand Canadian dollars (more than R$14 thousand).
After pressure and confirmation of the error, WestJet offered unspecified compensation. However, the story’s outcome resonates with Pedersen’s frustration at the lack of responsibility taken by the airline.
