A man with the initials ATJ (33) was arrested by the police following stealing a cellphone using cash on delivery (COD) mode in West Jakarta. During the action, the perpetrator also armed himself using an airsoft gun.
“Threatening to use an object resembling a firearm which the suspect admitted was an airsoft gun,” said Tambora Police Chief Commissioner Donny Agung Harvida when contacted, Sunday (24/3).
Donny said that the airsoft gun was obtained from his friend. It is known that his friend was also part of the gang, and is now a fugitive from the police.
“The airsoft itself was obtained from a friend. Currently, the friend is the perpetrator who is still being chased by officers,” he said.
Currently ATJ has been named a suspect and detained. For his actions, ATJ was charged under Article 365 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 2 paragraph (1) of Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with the threat of 9 years in prison.
It was previously known that a man with the initials ATJ (33) was arrested by the police following stealing a cellphone in the Tambora area, West Jakarta. The perpetrator carried out the action using the mode of buying and selling cellphones cash on delivery (COD).

Tambora Police Chief Commissioner Donny Agung Harvida said the theft was carried out last Monday (4/3). The perpetrator pretended to sell cellphones via Facebook and if a victim was interested, he was then invited to make a COD transaction.
“During the COD, the perpetrator threatened the victim using a sharp weapon,” Donny told reporters, Sunday (24/3).
The perpetrator is said to have threatened to kill the victim if he screamed for help. After successfully seizing the victim’s belongings, the perpetrator immediately ran away.

“The perpetrator threatened the victim not to scream, or even threatened to kill him if he screamed,” he said.
In carrying out his action, the perpetrator also invited two of his colleagues, namely M and A, who are currently fugitives. Currently ATJ, who is the leader of the gang, has been named a suspect and detained.
For his actions, ATJ was charged under Article 365 of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 2 paragraph (1) of Emergency Law Number 12 of 1951 with the threat of 9 years in prison.
“The stocky perpetrator was built like an executioner with a tattooed body and did not move when he was arrested. The perpetrator we arrested was the leader of this violent theft gang,” he said. (Fic/Z-7)
