Customs men at the third administration in Terminal No. (1) at Cairo International Airport managed to seize an attempt to smuggle a number of bullion and gold chains in violation of the provisions of Law No. 68 of 1976 regarding the control of precious metals and stones of value and its amendments, and Law No. 1 of 1994 regarding weight, measurement and measure. Law No. 111 of 1980 regarding stamp tax, Customs Law No. 207 of 2020, and Import and Export Law No. 118 of 1975.

According to a statement by Cairo International Airport, today, Friday, during the completion of inspection procedures for passengers coming from Abu Dhabi on the Air Arabia flight, the customs officer appointed to the Green Line Committee suspected a passenger while trying to exit the customs committee gate, due to his confusion and the short travel time.

By inspecting the passenger’s luggage and self-inspection, it was found that there were 5 gold bars and a number of gold chains weighing approximately 770 grams.

The Director General of Customs at Terminal No. (1) at Cairo International Airport decided to take legal measures, issue customs seizure report No. 69 of 2022, and seize the seizures.

This comes in implementation of the instructions of the head of the Customs Authority, Shahat Ghaturi, to tighten control over customs outlets, and to thwart all attempts of customs evasion.
