The AirPods Pro are one of the most popular wireless headphones out there, but Apple might be planning to add new features to make them even more appealing. According to a Bloomberg report, the company is working on an upgrade to the AirPods Pro that will include a USB-C connector, a hearing health monitor, and a temperature sensor.
The USB-C connector would replace the current Lightning connector, which would make the AirPods Pro more compatible with other Apple devices and chargers, such as MacBooks and iPads. In addition, the USB-C connector might offer faster charging speed and more efficient data transfer.
The Hearing Health Monitor would be a feature that would alert users to ambient noise levels and headphone volume, and suggest adjustments to protect their hearing. The temperature sensor would be able to measure the users’ body temperature, which might serve to detect signs of fever, for example.
These features might be part of Apple’s strategy to expand its presence in the health and wellness market, which already includes the Apple Watch and the Health app. The updated AirPods Pro might launch next year, with a new version of the regular AirPods, which would have a similar design to the AirPods Pro but without the active noise cancellation.
