The airline group IAG has placed a firm order for 37 A320neo aircraft, a re-engined version of the star single-aisle Airbus, the European aircraft manufacturer announced on Thursday.
This order, representing a catalog price – never applied – of 4 billion dollars (slightly less in francs), brings to 59 the number of aircraft of the A320neo family ordered this year by IAG, the parent company of British Airways, Iberia , Aer Lingus and Vueling, Airbus said in a statement.
Five of these 59 aircraft will be A321neo, a larger version of the A320, said Airbus, which claims the title of ‘the most popular aircraft in the world’ for its single-aisle aircraft with more than 8,500 orders from more than 130 customers.
As of September 30, the order book stood at 7,294 aircraft, including 6,115 A320 Family aircraft, ensuring many years of production.
