Airlangga University Achieves Accreditation for 23 Scientific Journals at SINTA

UNAIR NEWS Airlangga University (UNAIR) has once again scored a brilliant achievement. A total of 23 UNAIR scientific journals were successfully accredited and reaccredited at SINTA 1 to SINTA 5, as released by the Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) on Friday (15/10/2024).

Journal reaccreditation and accreditation in SINTA (Science and Technology Index) is part of the quality assessment and recognition process for the quality of scientific journals in Indonesia, by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through ARJUNA (National Journal Accreditation).

Chair of LIPJPHKI UNAIR, Prof H Hery Purnobasuki Drs M Si PhD said that this achievement was the result of the commitment and hard work of the UNAIR academic community. He explained that the main strategy for success was the application of the “Super Team” concept and the preparation of a systematic journal development road map.

“This roadmap makes it easier for us to oversee improvements in the quality and status of journal indexes,” said Prof Hery in his statement on Friday (22/10/2024).

Each journal has a specific indexation target with assistance at the university level. According to him, having a clear roadmap will make it easier to achieve higher and better quality journal indexation.

This achievement has an impact on UNAIR’s performance in the field of research output on a national and international scale. “With the increasing quality of the journals that UNAIR manages, of course they will become a reference and destination for national and international researchers,” he added.

By increasing the quality of journals, UNAIR is expected to become a reference for researchers and contribute to Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 5. Namely, producing lecturer work that is beneficial to society.

Work results can be in several categories and each has criteria. “For example, publishing scientific journals both national and international, publishing books such as monographs or references, and so on,” he explained.

Prof. Hery said that the main obstacle in managing journals is the limited number of quality manuscripts with high diversity. Therefore, Prof Hery said that to overcome this, UNAIR focuses on improving journal quality and indexation status as an attraction for reputable writers.

“Journal quality is one of the determinants of interest author to send paper-his. “So that each journal has a target, its index status can continue to increase,” said Prof Hery. He is optimistic that clear targets for each journal will strengthen UNAIR’s contribution to the academic world.

UNAIR News: That’s How You Get Accreditation, Baby!

UNAIR NEWS Well, look at Airlangga University (UNAIR) strutting its stuff! They’ve managed to wrangle a whopping 23 scientific journals into either accredited or reaccredited status at SINTA levels ranging from 1 to 5. That’s like going from ‘just got out of bed’ to ‘red carpet ready’ overnight! Kudos to the brains behind this glorious achievement, as reported by the Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) on Friday, October 15, 2024.

Now, getting accredited is no walk in the park, folks. It’s part of a rigorous quality assessment and recognition process for scientific journals in Indonesia, overseen by none other than the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek). You know it’s serious when there’s a whole acronym involved – ARJUNA, which stands for National Journal Accreditation. Sounds fancy, doesn’t it?

Key Strategy

Chair of LIPJPHKI UNAIR, the one and only Prof. H Hery Purnobasuki Drs M Si PhD – that’s a name longer than my grocery list! – humbly proclaimed that this success is the fruit of hard, sweaty work from the entire UNAIR academic community. Their secret sauce? The “Super Team” concept, which I assume involves capes, spandex, and perhaps the occasional dramatic music. Along with that, a supremely organized journal development roadmap has been put in place. No wonder they’re keeping it all on track; after all, someone has to keep those academic robots from overheating!

According to Prof. Hery, this roadmap is their ‘Alsoran’ (the trusty compass of academic glory). He adds that having a clear indexation target is like having a GPS – it takes you where the quality is high, and the citations are even higher. Talk about an academic treasure hunt!

Support UNAIR’s Vision

What’s the big deal about this achievement, you ask? Well, it catapults UNAIR onto a national and international stage (put your party hats on!), enhancing their performance in research output. With journal quality going up, UNAIR is soon to be the go-to library for all national and international researchers. It’s like going from the corner shop to a posh supermarket — now that’s progress!

And let’s not forget about the critical performance indicators. UNAIR is keen to flaunt its Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 5 which is all about stuff that benefits society. You know, the noble librarian dream: “Look, I made the world a better place through my journal!”

Challenges and Solutions

However, not everything is rosy in academia-land. Prof. Hery admits there’s a bit of a hiccup – a limited number of quality manuscripts with enough diversity to keep things spicy. It’s like preparing bread without the yeast; you need that rising action, right? So, how do they plan to handle this dilemma? By raising the quality of their journals and catering to those reputable writers out there—because nothing screams “send me your best work” like a journal with a stellar reputation!

Prof. Hery wraps it up with a silver lining: “Journal quality is a magnet for authors.” It’s like saying, “Come join us for this riveting academic fiesta; we’ve got snacks and citations aplenty!” With clear targets set for each journal, UNAIR is primed to make a stronger imprint on the world of academic research. Who knew academia could be such a thrill ride?

UNAIR NEWS Airlangga University (UNAIR) has celebrated another remarkable achievement, reinforcing its reputation in the academic arena. In a significant accomplishment, a total of 23 scientific journals affiliated with UNAIR have successfully achieved either accreditation or reaccreditation recognized by SINTA, with ranking levels ranging from SINTA 1 to SINTA 5. This announcement was made public by the Institute for Innovation, Journal Development, Publishing and Intellectual Property Rights (LIPJPHKI) on Friday, October 15, 2024.

Journal reaccreditation and accreditation through SINTA (Science and Technology Index) play a vital role in the comprehensive quality assessment and recognition process for scientific journals across Indonesia. This initiative is spearheaded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), following the guidelines set forth by ARJUNA (National Journal Accreditation).

Prof. H Hery Purnobasuki Drs. M Si PhD, the Chair of LIPJPHKI UNAIR, articulated that this noteworthy achievement is the culmination of the unwavering commitment and strenuous efforts exerted by the entire UNAIR academic community. He elaborated on the pivotal strategy that contributed to this success, highlighting the adoption of the innovative “Super Team” concept paired with a meticulously crafted journal development roadmap.

Prof Hery emphasized, “This roadmap facilitates our diligence in enhancing the quality and status of journal indexes,” reflecting the institution’s strategic approach to achieving higher standards. The university’s structured support for each journal, focusing on specific indexation targets, is crafted to propel their overall quality and impact.

This significant achievement notably bolsters UNAIR’s research output performance, both on a national and international level. As Prof. Hery pointed out, “With the increasing quality of the journals under UNAIR’s management, they are poised to become authoritative references and preferred destinations for researchers, both nationally and internationally.”

UNAIR’s ambition to enhance journal quality aims at establishing the institution as a benchmark for research and supporting the achievement of Key Performance Indicator (IKU) 5, which focuses on producing scholarly work with societal benefits.

“These scholarly outputs can be categorized diversely, with each category adhering to specific criteria that include the publication of both national and international scientific journals, as well as the release of books like monographs or reference texts,” he elaborated, underscoring the multi-faceted approach to research dissemination.

Prof. Hery acknowledged that one of the primary challenges in journal management lies in the limited availability of quality manuscripts that showcase high diversity. To address this issue, UNAIR is directing its efforts towards enhancing journal quality and indexation status, which will serve as crucial attractions for reputable and skilled authors.

“Journal quality significantly influences an author’s decision to submit their research. Therefore, every journal is assigned targets to ensure that their index status continues to rise,” Prof. Hery highlighted. He remains optimistic that having clear objectives for each journal will further solidify UNAIR’s contributions to the academic landscape.
