After announcing last month that it would withdraw all operations from Russia and Belarus, Airbnb (ABNB-US) once once more announced that it will cease service operations to Russian and Belarusian citizens in all parts of the world.
After Russia invaded Ukraine, it was condemned by multinational corporations around the world and successively announced the closure of local businesses in Russia. Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky also said last month that it had suspended all operations in Russia and Belarus. That means stopping new bookings from Russia or Belarus, the spokesman said.
According to Airbnb’s latest statement, the related service ban has been extended to citizens of Russia and Belarus. The company said that global users cannot now book local accommodation in Russia and Belarus on the platform, while users from Russia and Belarus cannot make accommodation reservations on the Airbnb platform.
Airbnb expressed support for Ukraine in the early days of the Russian-Ukrainian war. In addition to withdrawing its business from Russia, Airbnb also announced that it would provide temporary accommodation for as many as 100,000 refugees who fled Ukraine and raise funds for refugees.
Major global brands have recently drawn a line with Russia, such as Shell, Apple (AAPL-US) and Boeing (BA-US) and others severely condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, announcing that they would cut off relations with Russia or stop local sales.
U.S. President Biden also urged the international community to try Russia for “war crimes” on Monday (4th), and the European Union is developing a fifth wave of sanctions, but there are still differences over the energy embargo.
