Air traffic controller digitization postponed until 2028 – adressa.no

The digitization of the air traffic control service was originally supposed to be used from 2018, but was delayed until 2025, writes Today’s business. The new communication system between air traffic controllers and aircraft has now been expanded, and this means that some parts will have to wait until following 2028. Among other things, the modernization will only apply to airports south of Trondheim.

– We are still working according to the framework of NOK 2.7 billion and completion in April 2028, writes technology director Lars Vågsdal at Avinor in an email to the newspaper.

DN writes that the limit of NOK 2.7 billion also applies to a risk premium of NOK 600 million. Avinor says that the “Future ATM system” (FAS) project has become more extensive and complicated over the years.

– Northern Norway and the approach were early elements of a preliminary project which was at the sketch stage at the time, and which has never been part of the adopted project from 2022.
