Tokyo:The Coast Guard plane that caught fire on the runway of Haneda airport in the capital of Japan, Tokyo, collided with a passenger plane and caught fire, officials said, without permission to take off. However, Air Traffic Control documents show that the Airbus A-350 of Japan Airlines with 379 passengers was allowed to land on the runway.
The Coast Guard aircraft was continuously receiving instructions from Air Traffic Control to wait at the holding point without entering the runway. However, ignoring this, the Coast Guard aircraft, which entered the runway, crashed into the passenger plane that took off and moved forward. The pilot of the Coast Guard aircraft told the investigating officers that he had been cleared to take off. Except for the pilot, all five people on board died. All passengers were evacuated safely. Japan Airlines said everyone was evacuated within 20 minutes of the plane landing.
The transport department and the police have launched separate investigations into the incident.
